COPY presented three artist-led workshops in Bookbinding and Linocut Printing which took place in the gallery, and an informal book swap event .
Weds 22nd and Tues 28th August: Bookbinding with Victoria Lucas.
Concertina book and Japanese stab binding. Victoria displayed a selection of her own artist’s books and discussed the conceptual elements of her practice as well as showing examples of other artists’ works. Each participant created a selection of books to take home. A handout detailing the techniques learned was provided for future reference.
Tues 28th August: Lino-cut Printing with James Green.
The workshop covered an introduction to linocut printing. Participants created a design, cut their lino, printed it finished with a completed print ready to frame.
Sat 1 September: Book Swap.
To tie in with their final Saturday conversation around spaces for sharing and circulating books, COPY invited members of the public to join them around a table of books, swapping read for unread, new for old and old for new.
