Nathan Walker / Victoria Gray
Approaching the Bloc Billboard site as an expanded form of publication, Copy invited artists Victoria Gray and Nathan Walker of O U I Performance to create a new work comprising a printed work with a live, temporal element.
In the resulting work, Gray and Walker performed an hour-long durational action at Bloc Projects, which formed a dialogue between the performers and the printed image. The Double billboards portray the lens of a small glass sphere in which the world is rendered as a scaled-down inversion, held between thumb and index finger, and inscribed with cinematic subtitles. Double makes reference to Krzystof Kieślowski’s La Double Vie de Veronique.
